BUDDING young Chelmsford footballers have just had their first taste of European football and they did better than the England senior side in Euro 2012 - they won their tournament.

Under the PASS Soccer Academy the boys' Under-9 and Under-13 toured Holland and Belgium competing in the JVC Cup and for the second successive year came home as winners.

"This year's tournament was a lot tougher for the boys as it was played over two days and they were competing against some top youth teams from Germany, France and Holland," explained academy organiser Ollie Berquez.

"As always the PASS Academy boys conducted themselves professionally both on and off the field, playing their renowned free flowing football to beat Europe's best. The two tournament wins takes their overall winning total over the last two years to six," he added.

"This success highlights the talent there is in youth football in Essex and the progression and development boys are making at PASS," he continued. "The academy now has over 120 players at Under 6 to Under 14 level, with over 75 players signed at various professional clubs at both youth and professional level, including four youth internationals."
