GLAM-ROCKER Suzi Quatro is putting her Elizabethan manor house on the market – but she does not plan to stray too far.

The secluded, three-storey property boasts nine bedrooms and three reception rooms. It is set in three and a half acres and is a perfect family home, says the 58-year-old star.

"I am very attached to this house – 28 years I have been here," said Suzi.

"But the kids have gone and it is a case of empty nest syndrome."

She bought Hyde Hall, on the outskirts of Great Waltham, in 1980 with her then husband, guitarist Len Tuckey.

She kept it after their divorce, but now that Laura, 26, and Richard, 24, have moved out she feels it is time to move on.

She says her new husband, Rainer Haas, who she married in 1993 is in Germany.

She added: "We are together, but we don't live together all the time. It would be different if he lived here."

The house, completed in 1590, is up for £2.3million and Suzi plans to buy something more modest this time. "I would probably get a big apartment because it is less work," she said.

Her house-hunting has been restricted to the mid-Essex area so that she can remain close to her children and provide a babysitting service for Laura's daughter, Amy.

"I was 25 when I moved to this area and I ended up putting down roots," said Suzi. "Wherever you have your kids, you put down roots. And they are both very Essex kids."

Leaving Hyde Hall will be painful for the singer, songwriter and actress. "I love this house, I love every single room," she said. "I don't know how I am going to go down that drive for the last time. There are so many memories here."

Although the house appears very grand with its moat and gabled frontage, inside log fires burn welcomingly and deep-pile carpets provide a homely feel. "It is a nice antidote to showbusiness," said Suzi.
