Jamie Oliver is returning to Essex for his new Channel 4 series which sees him enjoying the festive season at home.

In his new five part series – which starts on Tuesday, December 15 – Jamie's Family Christmas, the chef shares his secrets for a stress-free yuletide at his Essex home.

For the series he's roped in family and friends to help with his Christmas preparations.

Jamie and co show us how to make a really succulent roast turkey, delicious gravy and stuffing, give us a masterclass on carving and share a whole of recipes and tips not just for Christmas dinner but breakfasts, brunches and suppers that the whole family can get involved in.

On his website, the 34-year-old culinary guru explained the reason for the series.

"What I want to do in this five-part series is look after you," says Jamie. "Hold your hand, give you my tips and my shortcuts, my ducks and my dives and really focus on the basics of the best turkey, the best gravy, the best potatoes and then the veggies, snacks, party food, puds and drinks.

"And if we do this together, I promise you this is going to be one of the best Christmases you've ever had – so welcome to my Christmas!"

And Oliver has more reason to celebrate this festive season with his Jamie Magazine being named Launch of the Year at the ACE International Circulation & Distributer Awards last week.

The food and lifestyle magazine was launched a year ago with little publicity but has established itself as one of the top publications of its kind on the market.
