In the local derby match on Saturday Little Waltham 239-9 in 45 overs (Ben Milburn 63, James Coyle 35, Mark Chapman 3-42, Graham Brown 3-79) beat Great Waltham 217-9 in 45 overs (Sam Harris 37, Gary Bloom 34, Mark Chapman 34, Godding 32, Max Anderson 5-40, Dan Fell 3-51) by 22 runs.
A poor fielding display from Great Waltham enabled Little Waltham to post a competitive 239-9 with Milburn proving to be the rock around which the innings was built, with useful cameos all the way down the batting order.
In the run chase, Great Waltham looked well set at 90-2 in the 20th over but a three-wicket burst from Fell saw them reduced to 105-5.
Great Waltham rallied and solid partnerships saw them recover to 192-6 but the return of Anderson to the attack saw wickets tumble and the run-rate jump as a valiant chase ended 22 runs short.
Writtle batted first against Burnham scoring 154-8 in 45 overs (J Hughes 37, Gopisetty 23. P Beard 26no, J Whitaker 6-49).
In reply Burnham scored 155-8 in 40.3 overs (FD Whitaker 31, J Whitaker 33 D Williamson 4-42) leaving them defeated by two wickets.
South Weald batted first and reached 143 all out in 34.2 overs against Stock, who went past the opposition on 144 for 6 to win by four wickets.
Bentley II batted first against Ingatestone scoring 134 all out (Hickley 30, Flood 23, Partha 3-38, Jumde 2-25).
In reply Ingatestone scored 135-4 off 21 overs (Valentine 55no, Kendon 36, Hickley 2-16) and won by six wickets.
