AIR and rail services in Essex are facing disruption and some roads are unsafe due to snow, emergency services have warned.

Trains between Liverpool Street and Harwich are running up to 40 minutes late, and some flights from Stansted are being affected - passengers are advised to contact their airlines before setting out.

About 45 schools are closed and 10 others are expected to open later.

Police are warning drivers to take extra care after up to 18cm of snow fell on parts of the county.
