BOWLS: IN THE National Over 55s' Pairs competition the Chelmsford BC duo of Ray Walker and Terry Little beat Ray Marshall and Ray Everitt of Silver End BC 21-18 in the third round at Tower Gardens. The visitors were five shots up after four ends and at the halfway stage they increased this lead to eight shots. At this point Walker and Little got their game together to score 14 shots over the remaining ends to run out winners and will now meet either Arclight BC, Colchester or Dovercourt BC.

Another Chelmsford BC team gained success in the Essex County Fours competition. The team of Eric Smith, Alan Mathieson, Les Parris and skip Martyn Gardner convincingly beating the four of Mike Newman, Mick Brickel, Ian Barker and skip Alan Francis of Great Baddow BC 24-10.

Chelmsford 'A' team in the C&D BA League Division One continue their winning ways and have now climbed the table to third spot resulting from their 66-58 win at Tower Gardens over lowly Southminster 'A'.

Chelmsford 'B' team had a much needed win 65-59 over Billericay 'A' in their efforts to climb away from bottom spot in Division Two. Chelmsford 'C' also won their game against Great Baddow 'C' in Division Three to improve their mid table position.
